Writer producer performer James Gittins returns to centre stage with the release of Lately (The Club Mix) landing 29 April 2026
Lately (The Club Mix) is the high‑energy dance reimagining of James’ forthcoming single Lately, set for full release in summer 2026. The track marks a significant moment in James’ journey, as he steps back into the spotlight as lead vocalist and front man for the first time since the early 2020’s whilst he’s been focussing on managing the entire creative and business process with his releases —building a fully independent, end‑to‑end music operation and sharpening his production craft with a roster of talented artists and producer collaborators.

His 2025 releases Pia ft Cherryjade and The Sun ft Hattie Erawan reached numbers 9 and 11 in the Music Week charts respectively, earning widespread support from DJs, tastemakers, and radio across the globe. With established UK power house DJ Producer Josh Hunter’s remix of Pia generating heightened interest from some of the biggest names in dance.
Lately marks the start of another new chapter, with James stepping back into the spotlight as the headline performer while continuing to fine tune his skills as a writer, composer, producer, and director.
A high‑energy club cut built for global dancefloors
Lately (The Club Mix) delivers an electrifying blend of high‑octane builds, a driving bassline hook, and retro‑inspired synths that nod to 80s house classics such as Bronski Beat’s Smalltown Boy. Clever vocal cuts retain the emotional identity and message of the original Lately, while transforming it into a fresh, club‑focused anthem designed to ignite dancefloors worldwide.
The release comes in two length – Full Club Mix – 3:53 The Club Mix – 3:08 to satisfy DJs, dancers, streamers and dreamers alike:
The artists view
James says “After spending the last four post‑Covid years deep in the studio and in the business—and having the privilege of learning from the many incredible artists I’ve worked with—it’s amazing to be back fronting my own music again.
I wrote these remixes with hooky basses – big builds – retro synths and chopped up vocals – to really get everyone bouncing on the dancefloors and reworked one of my vocals to create the tribal tarzan style intro which is the signal to get everyone moving! While my full vocal version of Lately won’t land until early summer I can share that it’s a deep funk number that I think will resonate with everyone. Lately reflects those moments when someone special in your life changes into a person you barely recognise—whether that’s a friend, a partner, a family member, or even a role model. The happy ending is that moment they find their way back to who they were.”

True to his ethos of avoiding the mainstream path and satisfying his insatiable appetite for adventure, James will be heading to the Alps in March for a three‑week creative mission—combining the promotion of Lately with his passion for Freeskiing. Fans can expect a wave of high‑energy content across his social channels, with Lately and other recent releases providing the soundtrack to his adventures
With Lately (The Club Mix), James Gittins delivers a bold, energetic statement that reaffirms his place as an exciting independent dance artist—combining original craftsmanship, authenticity, and a fearless creative spirit.
